You always seem to be taking care of others. Shopping, laundry, meals, family doctor appointments, children’s taxi service – the list goes on. But when do you take care of yourself? X-Ray Associates encourages you to do something for yourself. See your doctor, and find out if it’s time for a mammogram; because if you don’t take care of yourself, who will?

Facts about Breast Cancer

The facts about breast cancer are startling:
  • One in nine women develop breast cancer.
  • Two-thirds of all breast cancers occur in women over 50 years of age.
  • It is the most common type of cancer among women.
  • Breast cancer cannot be prevented, but it can be treated.
  • Early Detection is Vital

The key to successful treatment is early detection. There are two ways to detect breast cancer – breast self-examinations and mammograms. We have literature and our staff can instruct you as to the proper procedure for breast self-examinations, which should be performed monthly. We would like to talk to you specifically about mammograms. The American Cancer Society recommends the following guidelines for women:

  • 35-39 Initial mammogram to establish a baseline
  • 40 and over should have a screening mammogram every year.
